Genius Juice Kicks Off Common Threads Partnership

In the spirit of promoting conscious eating and healthy living, Genius Juice kicked off a community partnership with Common Threads, a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate children on the importance of nutrition and physical well-being and to foster an appreciation of cultural diversity through cooking.

In the 10 week program that is implemented in schools, students have a chance to learn about and cook in the culture of 10 different countries. Given that we source our coconuts from Thailand, and that the recipe called for coconut milk, Genius Juice was an organic match as a partner for the Week 3 Thailand class at Para Los Ninos in Los Angeles.

Led by Chef Lovely, the students started off the session with an overview on Thailand food/culture and a review of meal they were going to prepare: Thai Chicken Coconut Curry, Coconut Rice and Cucumber Salad. Afterwards, our CEO, Alex, spoke to the students about how we source our coconuts in Thailand and the benefits of coconut.

Next was the fun part! The students all went to work in the kitchen in stations, assembling ingredients, learning chopping techniques, sampling Genius Juice and cleaning up after themselves. The end result was a mouthwatering coconut curry and rice with a fresh cucumber salad!

Working in the kitchen with the students was a blast, and we are so proud to support Common Threads in their endeavor to educate our youth about nutrition and expand their cultural boundaries. We look forward to continuing our partnership at more schools throughout Los Angeles!
